Jumbo Comics was an influential American comic book magazine and one of the earliest long-running titles of the Golden Age of Comics, was an anthology adventure comic, featuring a mix of jungle adventures, science fiction and fantasy, sea stories and exploration tales.
It is especially famous for introducing Sheena, Queen of the Jungle, one of the first female comic-book heroes, who became the magazine’s most popular character.

First issue: 1938. Publisher: Fiction House. Run: Late 1930s through the early 1950s.

When it debuted, "Jumbo Comics" helped define what American adventure comics could be. At a time when superheroes were just emerging, the magazine focused on exotic settings, strong action plots, and serialized storytelling.
Sheena quickly became a standout feature and later spun off into her own title, contributing greatly to the success of Fiction House. Over time, the magazine adapted to changing tastes but gradually declined as superhero comics came to dominate the market.
